Advanced Water Chemistry: pH, TAC & CYA Balance
Why alkalinity (TAC) and cyanuric acid (CYA) are essential for stable pH and effective sanitization.

- •Optimal water balance extends the lifespan of your equipment.
- •Regular monitoring of pH and TAC prevents expensive repair costs.
- •Using B-eau covers reduces heat loss by over 85%.
- •Professional monitoring by our qualified technicians.
The Water Balance Triangle: pH, TAC, and CYA
Focusing solely on pH is insufficient. If Total Alkalinity (TAC) is below 80 ppm, pH fluctuates wildly. TAC acts as a buffer.
The Danger of Chlorine Lock (Cyanuric Acid)
Chlorine tablets contain CYA to prevent UV breakdown. However, CYA accumulates. Above 70 ppm, chlorine becomes chemically locked and ineffective.
- Ideal pH: 7.2 - 7.4
- Ideal TAC: 80 - 120 ppm
- Max CYA: 20 - 50 ppm (above 70 ppm requires partial water change)
